Chris Knight

Well Chris Knight is as good as advertised. He was overshined by the opening act, but these things happen.

So who are you listen to?

e mail me at kayzeke@comcast.net

I'll compile all the suggestions I get. Don't say the Eagles or Rolling Stones. We know them. Tell me about someone who will blow my mind and all the other readers.

Chris Knight

While we wait for the Hard Rain show at PD's pub, allow me to recommend Chris Knight this FRIDAY at the Thunder bird in Lawrenceville.

http://www.chrisknight.net/

Knight reminds me of .....

Wait for it.

Tim Barry.

Cause it really is all about Tim Barry. But seriously he does. It's worth it just for Becky's Bible. Allow me to hip you to the lyrics.

Empty beer bottles

Rattles on my pistol

On the seat of my Chevy pick up truck

And I'm taking these gravel roads

As fast as my truck will go

I'm running like a scared white tail buck

It was a long night card game

With Earl Ray and Bobby

And some ol boy they worked with from Adair

That boy didnt like me

Then he said I was cheatin

Gun shots rang out on the midnight air

I dont wanna see the day light

But my Becky's alone tonight

I wonder if shes waiting up for me

I'm gonna hide out in the bottom

Where I hunted deer and turkey

I know that swamp like the back of my hand

Hell I was born and raised here

Just wanted to be a good ol boy

Never thought I'd ever be a wanted man

But soon they gonna catch me

Aint no way around that

Cause I dont know any other place to hide

I wonder if Becky's Bible is still in the glove box

Cause I'm sure gonna need it if that boy died

I dont wanna see the daylight

But my Beckys alone tonight

I wonder if she's waiting up for me

Sometime tomorrow morning

When I ought to be fishing

They'll probably be hauling me in

I'll be sittin in the jail house

No need to be wishing

I'll ever get to fish the green river again

I"ll be prayin for some daylight

Cause my Becky's alone tonite

I wonder if she's waiting up for me.

I Wonder if shes waiting up for me

Don't anyone EVER tell me there's no good new music. The whole concept behind the song is amazing. The guy could be a wanted man, it could be a scratch. He has no clue.

He doesn't apologize, doesn't say he's sorry, and he's more annoyed than anything else. He also doesn't CLAIM to be worried for himself, just his girl who's alone and may be waiting. Yeah right.

"When I ought to be fishing." Great line. Yeah I shot some dude, maybe killed him, and damnit it screwed up my fishing. I'm not supposed to be here.

Believe me I can relate to that guy. This isn't what I'm supposed to be doing right now. I don't belong here. What's the movie, "I'm not supposed to be here." yes clerks.

today's post gazette

I couldn't have said it better, so I won't try. From today's letter to editor section in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.

Charitable rockers

Kudos to singer songwriter Bill Toms and his wife Joyce for sponsoring their annual Thanksgiving Eve benefit at Cefalo's nightclub in Carnegie to raise money to help fight amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as "Lou Gehrig's Disease."

On a night when most musicians could be making good money at paid gigs throughout town, Bill and Joyce assembled an impressive array of talent that included Tom Breiding, Shari Richards, Andrea Pearl, Jill Simmons, Bill Deasy, and WDVE's Sean McDowell, who served as emcee.
Headlined by Bill Toms' own band, Hard Rain, it was a magical evening that combined great music with great food for a great cause.

In a day and age where the holidays too often fall prey to materialism, commercialism and cynicism, the event was an optimistic reminder that most people really do care about the welfare and needs of others. The generosity of our local musicians, who constantly share their time and talent to support a variety of causes and organizations, is something that we can all be thankful for during this season.

If you haven't seen PD's since it was redone it's amazing. Come early and eat. The wings are great, some of my favorites.

Anyone else fired up for Chris Knight at the Thunderbird? He writes from the gut. New song about Maria.
